The following terms define the lessons taught as indicated on the Hamilton Martial Arts Schedule:
Kata – A series of dance-like movements containing many hidden fighting techniques. Our Katas have ancient origins, from having been handed down from generation to generation. Hamilton Martial Arts breaks down their katas, teaching how each movement can be used in a real life situation.
Small Circle Jujitsu - This class focuses on joint locks, throws, and chokes; all of which are taught to be performed in a very fluid manner. Please see more information about Small Circle Jujitsu on our Traing Styles Page.
One Step - Many techniques taught in response to an attacker initiating aggression with a first strike.
Basic Movements – Strikes, stances, movement, rolls, breakfalls, and protocol mostly taken from Okinawan Kenpo. Our system teaches that there are no blocks; just constant attacking through strikes.
Combinations – Boxing and martial arts movements consisting of striking with punches, kicks, elbows, backfists and more.
Kicks – Consists of various kicking and knee striking techniques mainly taken from Taekwondo and Jeet Kune Do.
Students / Instructors Choice - The instructor will ask the students what they would like to work on.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu - Grappling techniques are taught using mainly Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as the style of choice. Please see more information about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu on our Training Styles Page.
Arnis-Kali (sticks) - Students will work with their partner on stick strikes, disarms, and technique drills.
Mixed Martial Arts - Our newest curriculum - mixed martial arts (MMA). MMA is as though each student is getting ready for a fight in the UFC cage. He/She will train all the combined arts necessary to survive in the "cage". Boxing, clinch fighting, kicks, and ground are all combined in a cardio enhanced workout.
